Where do you all like to go on your day off?

I’m the type of person that doesn’t like to stay home much, so on my days off I like to go to a coffee shop to read, west farms mall (i usually don’t buy anything haha), drive east from NH along route 1, to name a few things.

Just curious as to where/what other people do and potential ideas and places worth visiting

library, bookstores, thrift stores, that street you keep wondering about but have never been, attractions considered touristy that you've never been to

you can also try booking a hotel in the same part of town you're in just to get a whole different perspective when you wake up. the same stuff seems completely new

Peabody Museum at Yale is being renovated, so it's closed until 2024, but it'll be worth checking out when it reopens.

Take a drive up to the Berkshires, maybe stop at a cheese and wine shop in Lenox and pick up something special, or head into NY state and have a look at the Catskills from a distance by walking/hanging out at the grounds of the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park (it’s free).

If it’s above 30 degrees (that’s the cut off for me, some people go when even colder) winter hiking is great. Not humid, no mosquitoes/gnats, not ridiculously sweaty, and views are sometimes better because no leaf cover.

Biking. Mostly local to my house, but when I get bored of that, I consult a few bike trip books.

I stay home. The only thing getting me out of the house is my motorcycle, and that's not happening unless it's closer to 70*.

You go to the mall with no intention to buy anything?

You are under age 25 right?

CT has multiple art museums that are absolutely worth a few hours of your time. The ones at Yale are free to the public.

RJ Julia bookstore in Middletown, and then browse a few of the other shops on Main Street.

Ikea is fun to walk around and the cafeteria food is very cheap.

Niantic- they have the Book Barn locations, the boardwalk which is gorgeous even in the wintertime and a couple bakeries and local restaurants/coffee shops

I go fishing.

Great way to spend time outside. I know it’s not for everyone though!

If you like cool coffee shops and taking a drive, drive out to Pistachio Cafe in New Haven.

Kent is a great town to walk around! It has lots of cute shops, great restaurants, and coffee shops! Maybe when it's warmer go up north 20 or so minutes from Kent and go on one of the many hiking and walking trails in the Berkshire hills. Cute towns around there, too.

Personally enjoy the general tranquility of a bookstore. There's so many towns to visit in this state, highly recommend visiting as many as possible. Many have some sort of unique charm to them, be it historical or otherwise.

I love going to the different towns and cities around us and trying different restaurants. Sometimes I go out to Westchester and just explore.

I like going to outdoor places that have easy hiking: Hubbard Park or Sleeping Giant for example. I like checking out all kinds of thrift and antique stores. Factory Square in Southington has a ton of stuff to do there: Gamecraft Arcade, Escape Room. Axe Throwing, Perkatory Coffee, and Smokin with Chri, a good BBQ place, is right next door.
