Most of Connecticut unfortunately does not have “true” caves, as in they ones formed by erosion like you see in New York, and even more commonly down south. An obvious stand out true cave would be Tory’s cave in New Milford. From what I understand there is also the Twin Lakes cave, which is on private property and not open to the public.

I wanted to share this story for any of the uninitiated, there may be additional caves along the eastern border that remain hidden. I feel the need to point out that nobody should go caving with out educating themselves on the risks and knowing what gear is required. But…for most of us who just like a good read, check it out.

I'm intrigued. One commenter on one of the links said they found it and it's exactly where it was said to be, but heavily obscured by growth and vines.

Yea it sounds like it’s unlikely to exist as there isn’t limestone there. But kind of strange how detailed some of the accounts are. It has me more wondering how Tory’s den and twin lakes are the only ones out by the border, where in theory the material that’s allows caves to exist is I guess much more plentiful. Makes me want to go exploring!

The articles addressed this some.

As I understand the area is unlikely to have any of the rock in which caves form as primary structures, such as by dissolution of bedrock minerals in waters, i.e., karst topography, or like lava tube caves. It is likely to have talus caves, which is consistent with those depressions in the hills that the locals call the Colebrook Dinosaur Tracks.

A talus cave is also consistent with the descriptions of smooth surfaces, boulders falling from the ceiling, and a lack of stalactites.

There is a small cave at Bolton Notch and there is a old tale of a Dutchman that was killed inside. Apparently accused of chopping wood on the Sabbath and ran off with his wife to hide in the cave. It's just a small cave/den and unfortunately has seen its share of vandalism. But it's a cool spot and nice hiking area.
