I feel 99 is at the end of the chain restaurant life cycle. Cannot pivot fast enough to offer newer food trends, tired menu, boring sit down atmosphere, expensive building leases. Innovate or die.

While I'm happy see sit down chains go, Nothing would make me happier than seeing the large scale American Mall model die.

Good riddance. Personally, I love seeing chains fail. More business for the little guys.

A lot of shit is gonna die when people get their electric bills and gas goes up with the gas tax. Huge numbers of people only sat down restaurant dine a few times a month. Raising cost ate my surplus even with a $2 raise. I gave up Dunkin for homebrew or 99c refills. My secret recession coffee trick is always go to the same gas station, always buy some gas...I know some of you like to fill your tank... But believe me putting $10 in a day, buying my old fashioned newspaper or ice for the beer chest... Often they don't even charge you 99c for the coffee especially if you're friendly with the staff and neat.

The past few times we’ve eaten out Ive been terribly let down by the food given what I paid. Multiple times I found myself saying to myself I could’ve just made a similar dish at home for a lot cheaper.

That what happens when you get rid of the damn nachos. (Seriously, they had amazing nachos)

It goes both ways though. I have a friend who stopped going because they changed their menu and got rid of one he used to get all the time.

They used to be a decent place to go to watch a ballgame at the bar but their happy hour times shrunk and the specials really stopped being special.

they literally are dying and will, not sure why you got so many downvotes lol

everyone shops online now an I say this as person who like fashion

most generic or middle tier stores have been having shitty sales for a few years now due to fast fashion online boutiques also.

Everybody's talking about the bar and not a single mention of salad.

TIL there is/was a restaurant chain called "Ninety-Nine" that had locations in CT. To be fair, a lot of these outfits have a tough time in CT and other states that have good, reasonable local food.

It’s my favorite fast food restaurant in CT. The lobster roll was buttery and amazing. My favorite dish to get is the chicken tenders and steak (medium rare) with asparagus with the Dijon cheese sauce YUM.
