Looking for a place to stay in Ellington

Hey I'm a doctor in my home country Aspiring Psychiatrist

I'll be rotating for a month in December 2023 at Ellington Behavioral Health so I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a place/room (couch even lol) to stay within walking distance from the clinic since I don't drive and I couldn't find anything on AirBnB.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm going to be honest, Ellington really isn't a town where you can be carless. It's pretty rural, not an easy place to walk around, public transit is nonexistent and things you need will not be walking distance from anywhere. You're going to have a hard time finding any short term rental situation there at all, let alone near that clinic. You're should plan for needing to take Ubers around, but Ellington is not a place I would recommend for someone who doesn't drive.

My girlfriend lives out by the big Y and it takes us minimum 20 minutes to go out anywhere that isn't grocery shopping

Vernon (10 mins) or Enfield (20 mins) are your best bets. Both would be straight shot easy drives.

Any luck finding a spot? I’m still trying to come up with a creative idea.

I live in Ellington, and it is really hard to find a living place in walking distance to anything.

But we have a year to plan this, correct?

Yeah. I have an year to plan it out but no luck so far :') Is it like snowing cold in December? I live in a tropical country and am very concerned about the cold.

I tried looking at bus routes and stuff and couldn't really find/understand if any ran through or near Ellington Behavioral Health.

I tried looking up AirBnBs and talked to some awesome people, but haven't found any solutions so far.

No problem at all.

I am very familiar with the area. There is no bus service - at all. We are too rural for that.

There is an apartment complex nearby, easy walking distance. I’m thinking that we speak with the management there and try to work out a one month rental.

Is that an idea you would consider? If so, I can approach them next week to discuss it.

December weather - snow is common, temps 30-35F daytime and 10-15F at night.
