My girlfriend is really into crystals and i wanted to surprise her on a geode hunt before the weather gets too cold. I know there are some areas in CT where you can find geodes. Anybody have any good spots or trails where they have had any luck?

Any suggestions are appreciated!!😊

Connecticut really doesn't have good geodes. Our crystals are mostly in pegamites - which basically means they grow mixed up with hard rock, not in pockets that can be split open.

There are a couple rock shops near the coast that have break-your-own geodes, though. That might be a good place to start.

Best regional location to go rock-hounding would be in the Herkimer area. It's a bit of a haul, though. I've heard there are a few good hunt locations just to the east side of the CT river.
