Rescues pay for food, vet, and other expenses for the pups - often including covering expenses for spaying/neutering pets. Even though they’re closing, they still put money into the dogs that need to be adopted. I also think charging a fee reduces the chances of these dogs being picked up for things like being used for dog fighting or other similar activities. But that’s just my own opinion on it.

Edit: It also says they’re closing for a few months, so could be they want to reopen once the workers’ health issues subside.
