Okie dokie. I wasn't sure. Where I'm originally from it was rarely done on the actual date.
Where's that? Russia?
I lived in PA for grad school and they did it on a different day sometimes, they even scheduled rain dates for inclement weather. It’s not unheard of.
Yup! That's where I'm from! Most Halloween stuff occurred on the weekend and not necessarily on the actual date.
Also went to school for a time in PA and they always did weekend before too in south central area. Kind of wonder if that’s a strictly PA thing because CT is always the 31st.
Same. We did it the weekend closest.
When I lived in Ohio it was similar. They specifically called that night beggar's night, rather than Halloween.
Rain days? We would go out even if it snowed.
Hell yeah 31st gang! Love it
I love the okie dokie
Edit: also love the “okie dokie”
Some places around the state do it on other days, but generally they are restricted to just locals. One neighborhood in Naugatuck comes to mind.
There have been pushes to make it the last Saturday of the month, but there has been public outrage at the idea.
When I lived in Ohio they would often die it on the nearest weekend - and they would set weird time limits, like 5:30 to6:45, and at 6:44 everybody would turn their lights off and lock their doors.
Another former PA peep & my town had a scheduled, official trick-or-treat the Saturday before Halloween. No rain date though
Don't forget mischief night 10/30🎃🎃🎃
31st, just sometimes they do little events (like trunk or treat we went to tonight) the 29th and 30th. :)
Every couple of years when the conversation comes up to “move” Halloween, I always get slightly annoyed. It’s a holiday for kids, let kids be kids and move on.
Of all the problems in Naugatuck, Halloween being on a weekday is the least of them.
I just moved from mass and they always did it Saturday before
Huh? Kids have school during the week. They can stay out longer if it was a Saturday.

You're the second person to ask this. Halloween is 10/31. Always has been. Other events may be on different days but trick or treating happens on Halloween.
