Can you print out a “paper” return to PDF from that version of TT?

I found it! The total tax on TurboTax is 5535. The total on freetaxusa is 2767. Big discrepancy. I've always used TT and always owed a lot so I didn't expect to run into something like this

The underlying logic should be the same, so you must have entered something differently. Unless there's some state rule that one of them doesn't know about. Was your federal tax the same on the two sites?

Yes federal tax is the same, and tax owed to my new state is the same. But TT thinks CT tax is twice (exactly) what FT thinks. The TT estimate would be 10% of my CT income

So you're doing a part year resident? Maybe TT isn't giving you credit for taxes paid to your new state.

Maybe. Thank you for helping me think through what's going on here! I certainly won't be filing either until I figure what's going on here

No problem. I lurk on r/Tax, and they have similar questions all the time (usually people mistype something on one of them). They also tend to recommend freetaxesusa.

Glad you found it. Good luck, taxes with moves are hard.
