Do yourself a favor, and use an attorney who legitimately does both estates and trusts work and family law. I'd suggest Lauren Leffler (https://www.oliverlefflerlaw.com/) or Cynthia Lifson (https://www.facebook.com/lifsonlawmd/). Most attorneys focus heavily on one or the other, and IMO you'll be selling yourself short if your attorney is not very well-versed in both areas.

Why do you suggest someone that can also do estate planning? Do they work differently or have different concerns than someone that specializes in one?

Think of it this way... there are only 2 ways out of a marriage: death or divorce. Your rights and your concerns in each scenario are wildly different. Attorneys who only practice in one area or the other are likely to gloss over the parts that they don't know that well or act like they won't impact you much, but you'll be better served by someone who gives you full guidance in either scenario.

Good point! That's something I'll keep in mind!
