Weird to ask here but there isn’t much available right now. If you’re thinking about renting out your house and the following stats are a good fit, feel free to DM me:

Prefer single family in Columbia or nearby $3500/mo top budget 1979 or newer Basement or separate space to work from home We have no pets and don’t smoke Move-in for May 1 or later

Thanks in advance!

Just curious, why the 1979 or newer requirement?

I believe that's the cut-off for lead-based paint usage. It also keeps you from houses with aluminum wiring.

Exactly right. Don’t want to mess with it.

FWIW, several Pb paint inspectors in addition to a few builders from the time with whom I've spoken all stated that no Pb paint was used in Columbia at the time of its construction.

The dangers were known by then (1967-8) and new construction just went with the Pb-free alternatives that already existed at that time.

I'd still be careful and get testing done, of course, but I'd be far more concerned with Aluminum wiring than Pb paint.

That’s helpful to know! Ugh another thing to worry about with wiring. How does one avoid that?

You still got asbestos to worry about 😈

Oh no, I thought asbestos was outlawed at a similar time. Am I wrong about that?

It was restricted at some point, but builders were allowed to continue using it if it were still in their inventory. Bottom line is that there’s only so much you can do.
