What’s up with all the Dunkins in the area only using generic paper cups? Is this due to the county ban on plastic? Supply chain issue?

I miss the old Dunkin cups…

Edit: I should clarify I’m referring to the cups you get with iced coffees.

They announced they were switching back in 2018. I think the transition took a bit longer due to COVID, but it was a company decision. Nothing to do with the County plastic bag ban or supply chain issue.

Honestly I think it’s supply issues - the one I go to recently switched back to the normal iced cups after being generic for a few weeks.

Edit: again, this isn’t about the styrofoam change or about hot cups at all. It’s about the iced cups being a generic cup with no Dunkin logos at all. https://i.imgur.com/JvSb3iy.jpg

I think the decision had a lot to do with multiple bans in multiple counties in multiple states and countries that made it less profitable to produce styrofoam AND paper cups for stores that could only be a few miles apart. Kind of makes for a logistics headache

They are new compostable cups. I don't know if they're just testing them out right now. The ones I got had a sticker on them explaining they were switching to them as they're more environmentally friendly. But after like 2 weeks, my Dunkin went back to the plastic ones so 🤷🏽‍♀️
