I moved to Maryland not too long ago and my car failed Maryland’s inspection. Does anyone know any car repair shops with affordable rates around the area, the few places I’ve called are very pricey.

I heard great things about foreign auto experts and taking my car there this week.
Ken’s Service Center is probably not the cheapest, but they are extremely honest. I would say if you want it done right and want the truth about what needs to be worked on use them. I learned the hard way about other mechanics in Columbia.
River Hill Sunoco is filled with good and honest mechanics
I second them. But if it's not a foreign model, southwestern auto is also a great choice.
Metro Motorworks in Elkridge, MD. Ernie Carrington is the owner. For bodywork, Dobbin Auto Body, in Columbia. Mr. Cho is the owner. I've used them for 20 years.
I can't really speak on price but I've had a good experience with the shops on dobbin road across from the Walmart
I third them. However, they only work on Japanese and Korean manufactured cars.
They were super busy and pointed me to TNT auto repair at Dobbin. I’ve gone there several times based on their recommendation and had good experiences.
Pine Orchard Exxon on the corner of Rt. 40 and Frederick Road in Ellicott City is the place to go. Proprietor Mike is a lovely guy, reasonably priced, and gets the job done. I’ve been there many times and will keep going there as long as he’s around
Daki’s Service Center in Kings Contrivance has helped me out a couple of times and was very fair: https://www.dakisservicecenter.com/
These guys are my guys. I feel like they’re my brothers. I’ll pay the extra money. I’m fine with that. They’ve saved my life catching repairs!
That's been my experience as well. Done right beats done bad and cheap.
It's a bit of a drive but I had really excellent experiences with McFadden's Auto Center in Laurel. Family owned, super nice people, always treated my vehicles right.
I have been a longtime customer of Ken's Service Center in Hanover, right down 100 at Arundel Mills. I've always found them to be reasonable.
I’d take it to get a second inspection.
My ex got failed by a shop who wanted 3.5k to do repairs for it to pass. I took it to my car guy and he said just needs 2 new tires and some cheap parts, passed for $550
Hey who’s your car guy?
I second this. Highly recommended. No BS type of guy.
Stay away from Columbia Auto Care.

Eakle's Auto Repair. Family Business. Excellent Service. Very reasonably priced, but a bit farther out off of 40 & Bethany Lane.
