My wife mainly uses it as a shower speaker. It stays home unless we stay somewhere else. I'm pretty sure I bought it with one of those 40% off one item coupons.

That's subjective. For what I paid, the sound quality is great.

Sound quality isn't really subjective. It's very measurable. But is it better than a phone speaker? Yes.

Philips products have been amazing long term for me. My Philips sonicare toothbrush has been used 3x daily for the past 15 years. Still takes a full charge in the lithium battery too. Phenomenal equipment.

I've still got a Phillips brand stereo unit that I got as a gift when I was a kid in 1999. I've used it to power my 15" PA speakers when I used to DJ. Still works like brand new.

I had a sonicare and it broke past the warranty period…called them and they replaced it and shipped it for free. Told me to trash the broken one. Great customer service.

I'm glad it lasted but you missed the important part. Crappy quality in the sound department.

I got a newer version, the Philips TAS1505, and I was pretty disappointed with it. Little to no bass at all, and it doesnt get very loud. The JBL Go 3 is only $5 more right now and sounds worlds better. I use the Philips in the shower, and the JBL for when I care more about the sound quality. I will say that I like the way the Philips looks, and the battery life is better. For those without another bluetooth speaker to compare it to, it's probably acceptable.

I have a Phillips brand 32in 720p TV from 2006 that works like a charm.

Would I say it's BIFL? No, but I'm amazed bits lasted this long

I wouldn’t want to listen to music on that for 8 minutes let alone 8 years. BIFL isn’t just something that lasts a long time, it also has to have an element of high quality as well.

This potato speaker isn’t on that level.

JBL is dogshit compared to Philips, overpriced and barely gets through the warranty

Having currently owned 5 JBL speakers, I respectfully disagree. Mine have all been fine and sound great. I’ve used my JBL Charge 4 since it came out in 2019 and it still works flawlessly, for example. I’ve had two Philips. One completely died and would no longer turn on, and the sound is very weak and poor on the newest one I just bought.
