I was wondering how good the quality is. Their website looks very promising “repairing broken products, reinvesting into the environment and protecting it etc” but I was wondering how much of it is real and how much is marketing. Same for the North Face.

Thank you, that's really good to hear. From a design perspective I sometimes prefer the North Face but they seem to have a similar orientation. Really good to see companies actually fixing their products and even reselling used products like the Worn Wear program (All those fast fashion companies are awful for the environment).

I have a pata mid layer capilene that I bought in 95 I believe. I do not wear it often but when I do I oddly always get compliments on my “new” shirt. Its a rare red color so I think it catches the eye.

North Face products are not designed to last in the same way Patagonia ones are

Both of these items were purchased at a US military retail outlet in Germany when I was stationed there. As a lower enlisted, the price of both were really out of my reach but I gritted my teeth and bought them anyway.
The jacket was almost stolen by an ex girlfriend but through subterfuge I was able to steal it back from the trunk of her car right before she drove away.
The current versions of both items, Retro Pile Jacket and Baggies 5" inseam look similar but not exactly the same. I can only hope they aren't improved in any way haha.

I am a slut for Patagonia, everything I have from them is incredible quality and lasts forever.

I love their products. Not sure about the charity donation thing though. Entertaining video about it. https://youtu.be/0Cu6EbELZ6I

Not sure what you mean. I like their products but think they have ulterior motive for the “donation” to their own organization.

Though they won’t repair the liner or elastic on the Baggies. Source: https://help.patagonia.com/s/article/How-do-I-know-if-my-item-can-be-repaired

Yeah it’s more altruistic than probably any other company. It’s weird.

Oh it’s legit, bought a pair of khaki shorts from a Plato’s closet for 15$ wore great but they seem to have been abused hard before me, couple months later I tore a hole in the crotch and tried their repair program, only paid 5 dollars for the shipping and sent them off, few days later they said they couldn’t repair them because the tear was too drastic but they gave me 65 bucks in store credit! Ended up buying a pair of pants from their worn wear program and they feel like new and seriously the best pants I’ve ever owned

That sounds fantastic. Will definitely make sure to check them out and get some gear there. Thanks for sharing.

Patagonia will fix them too if they start falling apart. For free.
