Budget: Up to $800, preferably less than $600 though.

I'm looking for a high-quality, full grain leather laptop bag / slim briefcase that will fit a 15" laptop. I bought a bag from Shinola a few months ago (above my budget) but the coloration was all wrong (it was mahogany/cherry colored, whereas I wanted medium brown).

Any recommendations? I had been looking at Satchel and Page but I raid on /r/BIFLfails that they are crappy and overpriced. Also looked into Saddleback but I dislike their designs.

Try asking on r/leathercraft. There are people who take commissions. A well made bag will last you for life.

LOL, literally came here to suggest that. I thought, hell for that kind of money you could make it yourself.

Try something from Saddleback. I have one of their wallets and absolutely love it.

I looked at their stuff but I don't really love the style.

You have a huge budget but I’ve been rocking a KomalC bag for years now and it doesn’t show the slightest sign of wear. Pick up a komalC bag and buy yourself a 1/4th ounce of gold and a nice dinner with the savings.

If you can find anything you like, I can't recommend Saddleback enough for BIFL. Might be worth another look.

I'm in the market myself and I'm seriously considering the Beckett Siminon Gaston bag, unfortunately I missed their 30% off Christmas sale so going to wait for a sale to come around again. I cant speak for their long term durability as I haven't owned one yet but I do have some of their shoes and the leather and fit and finish of their shoes is amazing. Also primarily a shoe company not a bag company so options are limited.

They are a made to order company though to keep inventory costs down and pass savings to the customer so you may have to wait for whatever you buy from them.

Recommend to crosspost this to /r/manybaggers as well

I’m partial to L&M. I have a couple of bags from them, both around six years old and no significant signs of wear.

Duluth Trading Co. and Filson make some great bags.
