I absolutely mean an Indian craftsman from the country of India.

Contrary to the lyrics of "Home On The Range", there are only bison in North America, not buffalo.

There are so many small companies that are fantastic. This was from Komal's Passion Leather, and it's significantly less fetishy than it sounds.

They use really cheap hardware.

That’s the only bad thing I have to say about them if they used better hardware I’d recommend them endlessly really decent product for the price though.

Do you have any favorite alternatives that are anywhere near this price range? Even the lower cost bags if put in the BIFL category are like $275.

Not really, I’m not saying they make bad products just really a shame. They also have an offshoot called KomalC

Nothing at that price point unfortunately(under 100$), if you are willing to spend double then yeah but there are lots of decent brands at that price point.

Great brand for gift giving though.

You can actually replace the hardware with some after market pieces that are meant for repair. So that’s an option if you really enjoy the product. Doesn’t really make sense on some models because of how much hardware is present. Did it to a toss around duffel I’ve had for a couple years and honestly it’s a great bag.

That’s not how I meant it at all. I just meant if someone says Indian made leather, I would think that they were meaning an American Indian where the ppl are known to use buffalo and cow skin and make leather, rather than ppl from a nation where almost 80% of the population revere cows as sacred.

Indians are good at tons of things, ppl all over the world are well versed at tons of things. This wasn’t a knock against Indians, I just made an assumption that you were referring to a certain ppl and I was wrong.

That’s the thing tho, cows are sacred, buffaloes aren’t.

Also India has huge populations of every type of people including those that do not revere cows (e.g. a Muslim population of 200 million).

If you’re not familiar with that scale and diversity, trying to extrapolate from knowledge of other places is not very effective.
