L.L.Bean slippers. I am wearing them right now and the are the most comfortable slippers I have ever owned and look and feel really well made. I hope they last as long as promised.

A set of Victorinox kitchen knives. I haven't had time to use them yet, but I am really looking forward to it.

All in all a pretty good BIFL Christmas.

Nothing received...but here are my "used" items:

  • 1950s aluminum Christmas tree with color wheel! From my MIL who dug it out of her attic when we bought a 1950s house.
  • I tuck the Christmas cards we receive into the frame of a huge 1960s dresser mirror (also courtesy of MIL) that now hangs above the mantle-less fireplace. The frame is loose enough that I can wedge cards between the mirror and the wood. Every now and then I think about getting a new mirror, but change my mind when I realize it takes years for the wood to shrink just enough to get the useful gap.

I got a painting of the place where I was engaged. It was unexpected and not the norm product listed here, but surely something we will cherish every day.
