Looking for a recommendation. We live in the upper Midwest and are looking for a wool blanket for our bed. We are debating between Faribault Frontier and Pendleton National Parks blankets. Is premium price point of Faribault worth it over the Pendleton? Is the quality that much better for $180 more? Anyone have experience with each of them to compare?

Faribault is better than Pendleton honestly and it’s always a great idea to support local when you can and they are made in Minnesota, even though Pendleton is made in Oregon. Faribault is a really great company and definitely worth it

Faribault is machine washable, which is how I justified the price premium over Pendleton...

The Faribault Frontier says “Dry clean only” under the Materials and Care section.

Ah, well this is the one I got, which is machine washable... I didn't note which model you were looking at. My bad!

Oh nice! How do you like that one? Think it’s as warm as the frontier? Looks like this one compare with the Ecowise from Pendleton, which is also machine washable.

It's about 3 pounds lighter than the frontier, so presumably not as warm? I can say it's not warm enough on its own on a very cold night. We have to add a waffle knit blanket for extra warmth... (This is in DC, too, so nowhere near as cold as you deal with!)

Pendleton Eco wool blankets are washable but their traditional ones are not

FWIW washable or not does not matter to us.

Yeah, it wasn't a huge factor in and of itself for us. I was more thinking of the cost of set cleaning being offset.

I’ve been happy with my faribault stuff.

I have two WWII army surplus wool blankets. A lightweight one from the Army, and a heavier one from the Navy.

Cheap, mil-spec quality, and warm. Not fashionable showpieces though.
