[Request] Any vintage backpacks with JUST canvas straps, no nylon?

I see plenty and plenty of vintage canvas bags around but they all have nylon or other synthetic material for the straps. Just looking for a simple zip up backpack with only canvas.

So far, I see Frost River has one with canvas straps (the North Bay Daypack) but it's like $180-$230. I don't wanna spend that much though, don't need anything new. I'm okay with used stuff and love ebay.

Sure wish all those vintage canvas Jansports didn't have synethic material straps. They'd be so good otherwise! So cheap too.

Man if I had a healthy wealthy level of disposable income lol.

Oh well, I've got a thrifted everki, a thrifted tom bihn, and a $40 nylon/canvas molle bag that's expandable that will probably last forever. Great for long trips, or less long trips, but a bit heavy. I also recently picked up a Trek backpack that I THOUGHT was one of those waterbladder ones but apparently is just a nice backpack that's got a mesh suspension frame so it's not heating up your back all day. Also kind of heavy. Neat tho.

I'd probably still keep a few of these even with something like the hulmeco linked, but dammit if I wouldn't NEED to, or care if they got destroyed or anything. They'd just become the beaters lol. It would also be cool to be able to leave things for a son or grandson if this economy ever unfucks itself.

I have an all canvas vintage boy scouts backpack. No zipper though. Flip top with buckle.

Is it orange? My husband had one. I think we gave it away before we moved. His was from the 70's. The buckles were rusty from sitting in his parents damp basement for decades.

I have my backpack I bought over fifty years ago. It has nylon bags and straps. My last camping trip with it was in the Grand Canyon to the Supai Rez and campgrounds. Sadly I left some Mres in it and a rat chewed the bags up to get the meals.

I would love some canvas bags on it to replace the torn up one.

Check out a site called “Shipcanvas.com” they have well built handmade canvas bags. They are pretty expensive though since they are made in the states.

I know nylon is sturdy and lightweight and all that, but I enjoy natural materials. There's been more and more evidence/reasons to believe that synethic fibers (mostly made of petroleum) might be carcinogenic. Nothing beats the good ol non-cancerous rugged real deal. And good canvas lasts a lifetime.

I mean the level of risk from the backpack is so low even by the most liberal estimates that you might as well be worrying about sun exposure and chemicals in sunscreen cosmic background radiation
