That is why people like them. There are plenty of shoes/boots you can get extra cushioning if you want or you can add an insole. I wear this type of boot because it doesn't have that.

I think they are overrated. Have had Nike socks outlast them, they wear out and thin pretty quick unless you’re just using them to walk on yoga mats.

I know everyone loves red wing but I think they are junk. My work provides us with boot vouchers for new boots whenever we show our old ones need replaced. They quit doing it through Redwing because the other options (Thorogood and Filson) lasted significantly longer on the job.
