Basically, I have a really hard time keeping track of time when I get engrossed into things.

I know "Clocks that chime every hour" are definitely a thing, but most of my searches lead to stuff that seems to be more aesthetic than functional. I'm not really interested in buying a $80 chunk of wood for a cuckcoo aesthetic.

I have been told about phone apps that can do it...but I don't really want that on my phone because there's times when I'm out and about and don't really need that. Or even when I'm sleeping.

Check out clocks for visually impaired or blind people. There are many options.

For YEARS my aunt had an analog clock that sings a different bird song on every hour. I'm certain they still make them. I thought it was a nice change from a chime.

I use a watch with an hourly chime. Casio has quite a few good sturdy workhourse watches with this feature. Timex has them too, but they switched to plastic watchfaces and now they scratch easily. My watch also has a built in timer. I press the timer button to get a get a 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minute timer. Use it for my tea at least twice a day! And it is good if you are into Pomodoro method type techniques for time management and to time rest periods between weightlifting sets.

Mine is a Casio 3225 W-214 HC. The plastic watchband is garbage, but was easy to just swap out with a nice black metal flat link one and you'd never know it wasn't stock. There are several variations.

On newer versions of iOS you can set up focus modes and have it silence certain apps and notifications depending on time of day or your location.

I use it to block work emails or social media, depending on whether I'm at home or at work.

There should be something similar in android too

Casio make great functional clocks, if a bit ugly.

They also make wristwatches with hourly chimes that are loud enough. An F91W is like $10.

I've heard of some people finding the hourly chiming drives them nuts after awhile. If you haven't had an hourly chime clock in your lifetime maybe an app would be good to see if it meshes well with you before investing in a real clock. Just an idea as someone who knows someone who literally ripped out a clock in the wall of an air bnb lol.

This is certainly something to consider, I wonder if theres an app I can get for my PC so it'd only be active when I need it.
