If I persuade anyone to get a pair, you should know that the sizing runs 1 size small, so size up. Also, they will make your feet smell terrible even if you don’t have smelly feet. I suggest buying ballet socks!

Edit- You definitely need an entire size up

I'm a 9 in every other brand. This style, I cant wear the 9s, my poor toes are squished so, so painfully. A 10 would probably work but it's very frustrating to so badly missize an online brand.

I finally wore my main work pair down after years of frequent wear. Been melting away the frizzy spots that crop up where they get scuffed with a lighter, but starting to just look ragged.

Far and away still the best shoes anyway. I just wish they had more support.

I may try shoving an insole inside one of these days.

If you're going to try the lighter thing, pass the flame under it VERY briefly, and go over the spot a couple times if once isn't enough to clean up the frizzies. If you hold it still I imagine it will burn quickly.

If you want a cure... before you put them on, use hand sanitizer on your feet. My vibrams used to smell like death. Then I read about the hand sanitizer trick, and the smell is like 80 to 90 percent gone.

Same! The soles of mine still look brand new, and I bought them in maybe 2019. to be fair, I worked from home for 2 years in there so they didn’t get a lot of use, but I’ve worn them every work day otherwise. And I used to take public transit and have a bit of a hike to get to my office once I got off the train.

Their sizing guide helps a ton to get the size right the first time, I will note.

I want to try them but I don’t wear anything without arch support.

I bought a beautiful pair for my wife and she wants to love them, but can't. She gets blisters. You think this is due to size issue alone? I'd hate to spring for another, larger pair, with the same results. Did the smaller ones give you blisters by any chance?

I have a pair and I wish I loved them!! :( they are sooo uncomfortable on my feet and rubbed my feet so horribly that I could never wear them again

HestiaAC t1_jbo755o wrote

I have the exact same pair. They're extremely painful. I wore these on a dinner date with my husband and we hit up an outlet mall after- I had to buy flip flops on the date and swap them out just so we could keep walking around, I was so miserable.

I have a pair of bright red Points as well and I live in them. So comfortable and chic yet practical. Can’t wait to thrift another pair!

I have one and actually don’t find them comfortable if wearing them for a whole day. The fabric rubs into my skin too.

This is because the alcohol kills the bacteria on your skin from the sweat that actually causes the stink.

This ideation can also be used on your underarms. I keep a small spray bottle with alcohol in it that I spray on my pits and lightly dab off. This basically kills the stink. I then apply my deodorant. Mama don't have no stinky pits no more.

I bought a pair last year and immediately returned them! The heel part is too small and I was stepping partially on the thick seam. I was prepared to buy inserts too. Love the look but poor design

Do you think the black color helped with longevity? I’m looking for a new work shoe and curious if lighter colors would last as long!

I looooooove my Rothy’s! They are also made from recycled materials. I have several pairs, they make great work/travel shoes

Inkdrunnergirl t1_jbovokg wrote

They have an awesome return/exchange, when I got my first pair I only did half size, I went online to do the exchange and dropped them off and the exchange pair shipped as soon as they scanned it in. I think it was a specific FedEx location

aztecannie99 t1_jbozeaq wrote

Yes you can wash them but hope they don’t shrink. I washed my favorite pair (red camo points) and they shrunk the tiniest bit. Washed on cold and hang dried. I was soo bummed. At least if you have to replace yours they are black and they keep those all the time.

1

aztecannie99 t1_jbozmyo wrote

If you buy them a size to size and half to big (two sizes up for points) you can add insoles to them. I like the Vionic 3/4 insole.

I wish the Allbirds looked good on my feet. I have heard good things about the Allbirds insoles as well but haven’t tried them.

aztecannie99 t1_jbp0b7c wrote

Yes their sizing is insane. I am a 9.5 wide so my first few pairs (including points) are a 10.5. I really should’ve bought 11s or 11.5 in the points. I have settled that in the future with the flats that the 11 does fit me better. I actually prefer the flat to the point tbh. I have one pair of 11 flats. I would sell my 10.5s but they haven’t re released what I want to replace the smaller ones with yet (red camo, copper, and Python fig) and probably won’t. Bummer.

Ohh I will judge. How dare you buy an item that's made out of recycled plastic second-hand?! I'm all for it!! Thanks for the info.. perhaps someone experienced the blisters and will let me know.

I had this happen, too!! I had bought a pair in my "normal" size, and they "mostly" fit, but rubbed the wrong way. I thought they would stretch because they are knit. They did NOT stretch.

Bought a second pair half a size up and they are great and I adore them.

LOVE my Rothy’s. I wouldn’t wear them for a ton of walking due to the arch support issue, but that still makes them appropriate for so many events.

1

tunisia3507 t1_jbqids3 wrote

Most people wear far more arch support than they actually need. Sure, some people have deformities which make it necessary, but a lot of people just have weak feet and wear increasingly built-up shoes as a crutch, further crippling themselves.

4

meowmiixx t1_jbqk2pz wrote

A few people suggested this but I feel like Rothy’s already has a high price tag. If I’m spending money on something I want it to work out of the box. Maybe if I try them on irl and they look amazing on me I could be swayed but I won’t bet on it.

Edit: I’m comparing the price to all birds

4

mrsmeesiecks OP t1_jbqyq26 wrote

Haha that’s a much better way to look at it! Buying shoes secondhand feels like it’s probably gross to most people, I know my mom judges me haha

And you know they will

Current_Addition_582 t1_jbr5fh3 wrote

I tried allbirds because rothys don’t ship to Australia anymore, and I can’t stand them!!! They are about to go to the charity store, I wore them once and they felt all slippery and weird.

Now have three pairs of rothy’s that I got second hand, they are absolutely the best shoe I’ve ever worn.

2

FriendshipMaine t1_jbrio4u wrote

Unfortunately they are foot coffins. If the toes can’t splay, you’re on your way to poor postural & movement habits, and possibly even bunions and more.

Kate-HW-Bush t1_jbujxqp wrote

I found odor eaters insoles to be basically necessary with these. Even washing the normal insole just didn’t work for me as I’m pretty picky about body odor lol. They are a lot softer too as a bonus, I know what you mean about the abrasion especially when it’s hot.
