I move a lot, and my little car doesn't have space to fit anything very big. I have recently given up on wasting money on a full mattress that I need to get rid of every time I move due to size constraints. I am looking for something else that I can put on the floor and sleep on every day instead.

Twin size or smaller is great

My price range is around $100 or less

Comfort is a consideration but not a hindrance

Ease of set up and store is ideal (no "how did this thing fit in here?!?" when I'm trying to put it back in the bag)

And I care most about how portable it is, as in how small I can make it to preserve as much space as possible

Anyone have suggestions? So far from some googling, I've found these:

This one I am not sure it is worth the price, it looks hard to get back in the bag, and it is generally too big even in storage mode.

This one and this one might make me just give up on life entirely when my back starts creaking by the time I'm 30.

This one is also price and it doesn't come with anything it folds into (like a bag or legs or something)

A good high quality air mattress can fold down to about the size of a foot square very comfortable

That’s true but if you have any interest in developing a love life, that can be a hard sell for some potential matches.

Buy two stack them on top of each other

You can get “bed height” air mattresses, I had one for a couple of years after moving away from home in my early 20s. Ask me how many lovers stuck around after bribing them home to my air mattress….

That made me laugh. I can imagine lol.

OH WOW I just noticed (on mobile) my phone autocorrected “bringing” to “BRIBING”…. ROFL I assure you I do not have enough game to think of literally bribing anyone to come home with me.

I figured it was autocorrect, but still made me chuckle lol

Not an expert at all here, but I just bought the first one you linked. I really wish it had more padding and I really wish it was a little more comfy. I ended up blowing up an old air mattress and putting this in top, which made it the most comfy thing I've slept on the floor with. Not a long term solution tho.

My suggestion: look at a Shikibuton. This a traditional Japanese floor style mattress that has been in use for centuries. Really research it. The even have memory foam ones. Make a better decision than I did :)

Exped Megamat 10. As I'm writing this, there is one up on REI used for $155. Two of the singles side by side are the same as full size mattress. The only downside is that seams can fail, and they can be hard to patch.

Your other option is to get a 3x6 folding exercise mat and a twin size memory foam or egg crate topper. It is way more comfortable than you would expect, and you can get both items for under $100.

The inflatable option is the easiest to transport, but the mat + topper will likely hold up better under daily use and is significantly cheaper.

Why do you need an exercise mat under the memory foam? Is it a back thing or is it better than just a memory foam thing on top of the floor?

The firmer foam gives you support so you don't bottom out on the eggshell or memory foam topper

Exactly what they said. An ideal mattress is something that has increasing density and support the deeper you sink. Inexpensive futons, of which I have owned several, completely compress almost as soon as you lie down on them and you spend the night grinding your bones against the floor. Sleeping on just a topper has similar problems (done that too).

For me the minimum seems to be about 2-4 inches of total foam in two different densities as described. For packing into a car it also means you can take the mattress apart and stuff the pieces wherever they'll fit, and it's way lighter than a futon.
