Comfort Colors. I found some plain ones on Amazon, although availability is inconsistent.

Pretty much no polos and very few tees are going to be BIFL.

Shirts aren't BIFL but Ralph Lauren and Hugo Boss will last longer than most

Taylor stitch heavy bag line, very sturdy shirts. Only had mine a year but know people who have had them for quite a long time with minimal wear

Genuine Ralph Lauren polo‘s are a great deal, even if they’re sort of expensive. I have several that are over 20 years old (1996-2001 era) but you’d never know it by looking at them— classic style. A large should fit you well, and you can find new or slightly used ones on eBay for cheaper than a department store.

If you're under 6"2, I'd recommend the Costco cotton slub shirts - amazing quality but not long in the torso

Wills is a house brand from the website Huckberry that has really nice cashmere/cotton polos, and there other house brand forty five has supima and slub tees and polos as well. Not going to last for life but the quality is there and the customer service is even better. My wardrobe basically consists of of the forty five supima tee in 8 different colors, can’t recommend them enough! They are mad in the USA so to me that’s a plus. I am 6’ 190 athletic and the medium fits perfect. Best of luck

Get yourself some loopwheel shirts. They’re made with low tension so they get softer and softer with age and are made to maintain shape for years. Only two places still have loopwheelers. Japan it’s called Tsuri Ami and Merz B Schwanen in Germany.

Exactly this! I also have some that are easily 15 plus years old. I bought almost all of them off the clearance rack at Ross or Marshall’s. I even have some long sleeve button down shirts from them. I think I’ve had to sew a few buttons, but other than that they all look like they are new.
