I heard about Roald Amundsen life on the radio today. This was indirectly the cause of his end, as he tried to save Umberto after "Italia" went missing. What a coincidence and cool art.

I upvote most pixel art, but especially this one.

That is a sweet animation! I like the graphics, but it could've used a little more motion on the setting. Well done with the pixels. 🖼👏

Pixel art is a different world to me but I wish I could get into it, it's somehow a perfect bond between traditional aesthetics and digital render.

Well done! If I had to give some constructive criticism though; I'd say it could use some bigger idle motion details, where people are chatting, have their scarfs moved by wind or something or the gentle swaying of the balloon. Also, I'd put in more colored details to help guide your eyes through the image.

I don't like the movement on the flag one bit though.. Very unnatural.

Those italians haven't learned their lesson, even 100 years ago.

My great-grandfather was a member of that expedition to the North Pole, so I really appreciate this work!

Actually, the first verifiable expedition to the North Pole was completed by Italia's sister ship, the Norge, with no major problems on the way there. (On the way back, a hard landing damaged the keel such that the airship had to be dismantled and shipped back to Italy in boxes, but that's neither here nor there.)

Despite stereotypes, airships were actually much hardier than the planes of the time. Their considerable fuel endurance and excellent low-speed handling made them well-suited for riding out storms, and even hydrogen-filled airships were surprisingly durable.
