It’s sad to see people paint Indians so light skinned even today. It makes sense for ancient artist because of colorism, but I assumed people would be better today.

Dude, Indians themselves depict almost all of their goddesses as light skinned.

Yes, because of colorism.

Majority of people in India don’t look like that. A artist in South India will also paint the goodness white because they prefer white skin over dark skin.

Bro! Idols of Gods in south india are literally made from granite marble which is absolutely black

Even in north, any idols or anything representing a form of Shiva and Narayana are made in jet black.

Dude I’m literally South Indian. I know my culture. I specifically mentioned painting because the artist has a choice in the color they use. A black granite is black, they have used white stone as well. They don’t have a choice in the color because they chose stone that were available to them. Are you seriously suggesting Indian don’t have a colorism issue or are you suggesting colorism didn’t affect our art?
Healthy-Rain-3485 t1_iudexmo wrote
Yes colorism is integrated in present people because of desire of having rare Geno/phenotype of your next gen , but culturally it's next to irrelevant
